Toast made into French Toast with a Cinnamon-Sugar coating!
Author: Melissa Slyh
Recipe type: Breakfast
Serves: 3-4 servings
Ingredients
6-8 slices, lightly toasted white sandwich bread
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
Small pinch salt
Cinnamon-sugar (½ tsp (¼ tsp per side) per slice of toast)
Butter, for serving
Maple or pancake syrup for serving
Cooking spray
Instructions
Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon together in a dish.
Dip each side of the toast into the egg mixture.
Pan fry each side of the egg-covered toast in a preheated skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat. Cook for about 1 minute per side, or until golden brown.
Sprinkle about ¼ tsp of cinnamon sugar on top of the toast. Flip the toast over with a spatula, and cooker for about 15-30 seconds to allow the sugars to caramelize. (The sugar gets really hot, and a little sticky, so use caution). Sprinkle another ¼ tsp on the top of the French toast, and flip again with a spatula to caramelize the sugars on that side for about 15-30 seconds.
Repeat all steps for the remaining pieces of toast. If you have a skillet large enough, you can cook multiple pieces of toast at the same time.
Top each slice of Double Toasted French Toast with a pad of butter and drizzle some sweet maple syrup over the top!
