Homemade Sloppy Joes

Another great Spring and Summertime meal is Sloppy Joes!  It’s another meal that comes together quickly!  Ditch the canned sloppy joe sauce, and try making your own!

Ingredients:

¼ cup chopped onion

1 tablespoon olive oil

1lb ground beef

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 can condensed chicken gumbo soup

¼ cup Heinz Chili Sauce

¼ cup ketchup

¼ cup sweet barbecue sauce

¼ cup honey

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Heat the olive oil on medium heat and add in the chopped onion. Cook for about 1-2 minutes.

Brown the ground beef. Season with salt, ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the beef is cooked through.

Combine the chili sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, and stir.

Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and place onto a plate, lined with paper towel. This will catch some of the grease.

Drain the grease from the skillet and discard.

Return the beef back to the skillet, and pour in sauce and chicken gumbo soup.

Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5-10 minutes.

Spoon sloppy joe meat onto a bun. Makes about 6 sandwiches.
